On this Black Lives Matter Day, as Black History Month winds down, the community continues to celebrate and honor the Black Lives Matter movement by spotlighting the voices, culture, history, and ongoing struggles of Black Louisvillians. Local events and gatherings throughout February—from art shows and cultural exhibitions to film screenings, performances, and community discussions—have highlighted the contributions of Black Americans to the city’s heritage and promoted deeper understanding and equity. These celebrations reinforce the work of organizations like Black Lives Matter Louisville, which focuses on liberation, mutual aid, political engagement, healing, and community empowerment in the spirit of affirming Black lives every day.
