Happy Juneteenth, Louisville.

Today we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity. Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Across our city, you'll find opportunities to honor Black history, support Black-owned businesses, enjoy live music and cultural events, and gather in community. However you choose to spend the day, we hope it includes reflection, celebration, and connection.
